LOOP-LESS™ VS CLASSIC: WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

We often get asked this question, “what’s the difference between your Loop-less™ and Classic strap range?”. The answer is quite simple, it’s all in the buckle.

The Classic and Loop-less™ naming system refers to the type of buckle closure used for the strap. It refers to the practical application of the strap. Think of it like the naming system in the car industry; a SUV is a category of vehicle, and a coupe is another category of vehicle.

Let’s explore the different strap categories in detail below.

What is the “Classic” strap?

This is the traditional watch strap setup, using a tang/pin buckle. The excess strap length sits on the outside (like a normal belt you would wear on your pants), and is stowed away in the keeper loops.

You can upgrade your Classic strap setup by adding our highly popular RM Style Deployant Clasp. This will also improve the longevity of the strap’s life due to reduced wear and tear which is generally found with traditional tang/pin buckle setups.

Within the Classic style of straps, you have two options; our Standard Sailcloth Classic, and the HydroFlex™.

What is the “Loop-less™” strap?

The word Loop-less™ perfectly describes the functionality of this strap; it’s a strap with no keeper “loops”. It utilises a single folding deployant clasp instead of the traditional tang/pin buckle. This style of clasp is often referred to on the internet as an “Omega style clasp”.

Once you set the strap at the correct hole setting for your wrist size, you can remove and wear the strap with the same ease as a watch bracelet.

The excess strap length is stowed away under the clasp when the clasp is closed. Our Loop-less™ straps can be purchased with our matching deployant clasp, or you can use your own if you already have one
